Full details of the all-new BMW 7-Series have been released ahead of it going on sale later this year.

The BMW 7-Series is the German carmakers biggest and most luxurious model, and it features some new high-tech equipment to take on the competition from Audi, Lexus and Mercedes.

BMW’s Efficient Dynamics technology makes its first appearance on the BMW 7-Series, cutting emissions and increasing fuel economy compared with the current model.

Specify BMW’s Integral Active Steering and the rear wheels can turn by up to three degrees. This computer controlled rear-wheel-steer makes the big car more manoeuvrable at low speeds and more stable at motorway speed.

A night vision system uses a front facing camera to see further into the dark than the driver’s eyes. It can even recognise a human figure in the distance and alert the driver if it is in the car’s path.

All BMW 7-Series can also be fitted with BMW’s new Side View camera system. Cameras mounted in the bumper can provide the driver with a greater view when faced with tight traffic, obscured junctions, narrow obstacles and parking manoeuvres.

The engine line-up includes two new engines for the 7-Series: the twin-turbocharged, 3-litre petrol engine with 326bhp and 332lb/ft of pulling power fitted in the new 740i and the twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre, 407bhp and 442lb/ft engine fitted in the new 750i and first seen in the BMW X6.

BMW’s 3-litre diesel engine has been re-engineered and now packs a 245bhp punch and a mighty 422lb/ft of pulling power.

Thanks to its 39.2mpg and emissions of 192g/km (placing it in £210 tax band F) it looks set to be the UK’s best selling model after its predecessor mopped up 85 per cent of 7-Series sales.

Inside, there is a new iDrive on-board computer controller, 10.2-inch screen, high-resolution colour dashboard display, music storage hard drive and seats with air conditioning and massaging technology.

The BMW 7-Series will debut at the Paris Motor Show in September go on sale in the UK on November 15.
