Most economical BMW 6-Series ever on sale
04 October 2007 The most economical BMW 6-Series ever goes on sale this weekend offering buyers performance and low fuel bills. The BMW 635d has been fitted with a 3-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine producing 286bhp and 428lb/ft of pulling power. This shifts the German coupe from 0-62mph (100kph) in 6.3 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155mph. And BMW claim it will achieve a combined fuel economy of an exceptional 40.9mpg, while emitting 183g/km of carbon dioxide – meaning an annual tax bill of £165. The heavier convertible model hits 62mph in 6.6 seconds and manages 39.2mpg, but retains the 155mph top speed. Emissions of 190g/km put the convertible in the next tax band meaning a bill of £205. While looking almost identical to its predecessor, the new BMW 6-Series has received a minor facelift with different shaped air intake and a larger front grille. Buyers can also choose from a range of new alloy wheels from 17- to 19-inch. Buyers can also pay a premium and get the BMW 6-Series with the Sport pack, which is fitted with sportier seats and boasts uprated suspension and brakes. Prices for the BMW 6-Series start from £49,300 for the entry level 630i Coupe, rising to £63,215 for the top-end 650i Sport Convertible.
