The BMW 1 Series will get a factory-approved makeover kit which will showcase at the upcoming Geneva motor show.

The Performance Aerodynamics Kit adds to the BMW 1 Series’ strong lines with a bigger front air dam, contoured side-sills, carbon fibre exterior mirror caps, and a carbon-fibre rear spoiler.

And the BMW 1 Series Performance Kit also includes suspension and brake upgrades – lowered springs painted in yellow, a spring strut reinforcement bar made of carbon fibre said to increase the car’s stiffness, and “extra-large” vented brakes.

The new BMW 1 Series Performance Kit offers up optional 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels – notable for their lower weight.

The Munich-based manufacturer has left the engine alone, but has developed a new air-intake system designed to improve the engine’s breathing, while an upgraded exhaust system optimises “the efficiency of the engine.”

BMW has spruced up the 1 Series interior with sports seats in a motorsport design, a revised gearshift lever made of chrome and alcantara which shortens the shift travel by 25 per cent – helping the BMW 1 Series to accelerate faster.

And customers can specify their BMW 1 Series with a Knight Rider-style LED steering wheel which features a display in the centre with oil, coolant, acceleration, shift points and time readouts.

BMW will showcase the entire range of accessories on a fully kitted 123d Coupe at the upcoming Geneva motor show in March.

We’ll be reporting live from Geneva so check back for more information on the hot new BMW 1 Series Performance accessories.
