Abandoned car collection up for sale - News image

09 March 2010

The abandoned exotic car collection of an eccentric millionaire is due to go under the hammer on Saturday at Lacy, Scott and Knight auctioneers in Bury St Edmunds.

The seven Italian and British sports cars – many of which have covered little more than delivery miles – is part of the estate of the deceased connoisseur.

Full collection details and pics:

He reportedly grew bored of the cars soon after buying them, leaving them to gather dust in a barn in the grounds of his house. Instead, he used a £4,000 Nissan Patrol on a daily basis, which will also be auctioned off in the sale.

The cars up for grabs include a 1989 Maserati Quattroporte III, which has covered just 960 miles since it was bought in 1989 for £41,500; one of only six 200mph DeTomaso Longchamp GTSEs ever produced; and a bespoke Bentley Continental R Mulliner.

The sale is expected to raise a total of £160,000.
