01 November 2006 Be afraid, be very afraid… here's the police car you'll never outrun. Visitors to this weekend's MPH show in London will get an eyeful of this Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 - specially kitted out with police markings by the Metropolitan Police’s Traffic Operational Command Unit (OCU). The Met's OCU was invited to the show to promote its work in keeping London's roads safe, and decided to go the extra mile. A charitable dealer made the dream a reality by lending the unit the specially liveried supercar. PC Lee Ellingham, who spent four hours transforming the car with its new markings, said: "It's fantastic to look at, and a real ice-breaker to break down barriers between ourselves and show-goers." The Met are keen to point out the car will never be used on the roads, and will only be a one-off showpiece. They'll be showing off other vehicles at the show, including a BMW 530d traffic car and a new Mitsubishi Shogun & BMW RT1200 motorcycle, and will be promoting road safety messages about safe driving, including new child seat legislation and the dangers of driving whilst on a mobile phone.
