A one-off Porsche 911 Turbo S owned by the world’s most prolific car collector is for sale on Auto Trader.

The Sultan of Brunei is one of the world’s richest people with a fortune believed to be in the tens of billions of pounds – and he’s never been afraid to splash the cash, living in a 1,788-room palace.

But one of the most extraordinary things about the Sultan of Brunei is his staggering car collection – owning more than 2,500 luxury cars, many of them one-offs, including a crazy Rolls-Royce customised by DC Designs.

And Auto Trader has one of the Sultan’s unique old cars for sale – a 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S was a hand-built supercar which has a slanted front as opposed to the traditional ‘frog eye’ and using the name ‘Flachbau’; German for flat nose.

Seventeen of these 3.6-litre turbocharged Porsches were fitted with the traditional Porsche front to be sold in the US market. However, the Sultan of Brunei ordered one in right-hand drive.

Porsche said the 3.6-litre turbocharged gearbox – coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive – produced 385bhp, but due to the nature of the engine being hand-built, power outputs are often different to the manufacturer’s claims.

Super fast

And the Porsche 911 Turbo S is no different with a 1994 US article on the Flatnose saying knowledgeable observer (s) swear the power gain is more like 150bhp (over Porsche’s claim). Ballpark guesstimates for the Turbo S range from a low of 480 to a high of 508.’

Porsche has never confirmed performance figures but going by today’s standards, the 911 Turbo S should be capable of accelerating from 0-62mph (100kph) in just over four seconds before hitting 190mph.

This horizon blue Turbo S has covered just 15,000 miles and features anti-lock brakes, limited slip differential, leather interior and full service history.

It’s for sale with Porsche specialist Sean Lockyear who is also selling a 1975 911 race car and a 1972 Porsche 911 RS.

The Sultan of Brunei’s old Porsche 911 Turbo S – which has had three owners – can be yours for £69,850.
