Jools Holland's Bentley Turbo R for sale
30 May 2008 A Bentley Turbo R formerly owned by Squeeze legend Jools Holland is for sale on Auto Trader. Jools Holland – who shot to fame in the 1980s as the presenter of popular TV show The Tube – was the second owner of this 1989 6.75-litre Bentley Turbo R. Following his stint co-presenting The Tube alongside Paula Yates, Jools Holland formed The Jools Holland Big Band in 1987, with the help of former Squeeze bandmate Gilson Lavis. Throughout his distinguished and legendary career, Jools has played alongside Tom Jones and Eric Clapton, appeared as a musical director in the Spice Girls movie Spiceworld, and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Kent in 2006. And his old Bentley Turbo R is equally distinguished – the big Bentley features the classic 6.75-litre V8 engine from Rolls Royce, which is the same capacity as The Apprentice star Sir Alan Sugar’s new Rolls Royce Phantom. Official power and performance figures are not available for the Bentley Turbo R, but some unofficial tests put the luxury cruiser’s power at around 300bhp and a massive 487lb/ft of pulling power. The Bentley Turbo R features the same chassis as the classic Bentley Mulsanne, but uses uprated suspension components to increase the ride quality. Inside the luxurious Bentley Turbo R gets a full grey leather interior with wood dash and an automatic gearbox. You can grab a piece of music history and snap up Jools Holland’s old Bentley Turbo R – which has covered 107,000 miles and comes with all the original books and tools – for just £9,200. |
