As racing endorsements go, you can’t get much better than one of the world’s finest rally racers.

This, dear readers, is a Ford Focus RS previously owned by British superbike champion Niall Mackenzie and signed by his good friend Colin McRae.

And it’s now for sale on Auto Trader – so you can own a unique piece of rally history.

Niall Mackenzie – three-time British Superbike champ and the most successful British GP racer since Barry Sheen – bought the Focus RS brand new in April 2003, selling it on in 2006.

He was good friends with the late Colin McRae, Britain’s first world rally champion, and asked him to sign the sun visor – apparently the two racers came from the same town in Scotland.

Niall’s old Focus RS has been kept standard, and probably for good reason too. It boasts a turbocharged 2-litre four-cylinder engine churning out 212bhp and 229lb/ft of pulling power, all running through the front wheels.

This means the first gen RS can sprint from 0-62mph in around 6.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 144mph.

You also get a Quaife limited slip differential keeping that power in check and you out of a hedge, along with massive 324mm four-piston Brembo front brakes and 280mm rears.

The 18-inch alloys were specially developed by OZ Racing and the exhaust system is constructed of stainless steel.

The 03’ plate Ford Focus RS comes with a full service history and has covered only 40,545 miles – not bad for a six-year-old hot hatch.

Want it? It’s being sold by Parkway Motor Group for £12,995.
