A special edition Range Rover previously owned by footballing phenomenon Michael Owen is for sale on Auto Trader.

Michael Owen has been one of England’s biggest stars since exploding onto the international scene as a fresh-faced 17-year-old at the 1998 World Cup Finals.

The then Liverpool star scored in the group stage against Romania after coming on as a substitute and scored one of England’s most memorable goals in recent times against Argentina.

But these goals made hot stuff of the Chester-born star who was later named 1998 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

Owen, who bought this Range Rover HSE CARiN edition in 1999 as a 19-year-old, owned it for three years.

The £62,000 car was fitted with a host of luxuries including sat-nav, a Harmon Kardon sound system with six-CD autochanger, privacy glass and full leather seats and trim.

It’s for sale on Auto Trader now for just £6,995 – a similar price to a new Toyota Aygo and £1,000 less than an entry-level Fiat 500.

His old Range Rover also features 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, bull bars, alarm and immobiliser and electric sunroof.

Under the bonnet sits a 4.6-litre V8 engine producing 225bhp and 280lb/ft of pulling power, which mated with a five-speed automatic gearbox, gives the premium 4x4 a top speed of 125mph.

But with this weight and power comes thirst with the Range Rover averaging 20.1mpg.

It’s not the first time one of Owen’s cars has appeared on Auto Trader. In 2006 we had his old Jaguar XKR for sale.

And other cars owned by Liverpool stars past and present include Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and Jamie Redknapp.
