Ronaldo, Insignia and a 257mph car for sale
In the fourth of a 12 part series, Adrian Hearn looks at the biggest car stories of April 2008.
April was a year of supercars and superstars with the announcement of a replacement for the reps’ favourite.
SSC Ultimate Aero TT for sale
While the 253mph Bugatti Veyron is often hailed as the ultimate supercar, it isn’t actually the quickest with the American SSC Ultimate Aero TT capable of 257mph.
And at £400,000, it’s also less than half the price of the Veyron – and one was for sale on Auto Trader in April.
With a twin-turbocharged 6.2-litre V8 engine, the Aero TT develops 1,187bhp – enabling 0-62mph in 2.78 seconds and a Guinness recorded top speed of 257mph.
And it wheelspins at 190mph.
Ronaldo’s Porsche Cayenne for sale
The footballing equivalent of the SSC is Man United and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
And the rapid winger’s old Porsche Cayenne was popped up on Auto Trader, kicking off a car-fuelled six months for Ronaldo who would make the motoring headlines time and again.

Vauxhall Insignia announced
The Vectra was one of the most popular company cars but it was never the most inspiring – so Vauxhall needed to act if it was going to offer the Ford Mondeo some serious competition.
Enter the Insignia – a better-looking replacement with a good selection of engines and a classy interior.
205mph VW Golf
The VW Golf R32 is one of the best ever hot hatches using four-wheel drive and a peachy 3.2 V6 engine.
But that wasn’t enough for tuning house HGP – who fitted a Golf R32 with the 3.6-litre V6 from a Passat and added two turbochargers resulting in a mad 640bhp.
With this power, the VW Golf R36 BiTurbo will accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.8 seconds and hit 205mph.

Toyota Supra hit 222mph at Nardo
Fans of the Fast and the Furious will be familiar with the tuning capabilities of the Toyota Supra.
A Japanese guy by the name of Kazuhiko Nagata fitted a 5-litre twin-turbocharged engine into his golf Supra – upping power from 276bhp to 1,00bhp.
And at the Nardo high speed bowl he clocked 222mph in it.
Don't forget to come back on Monday for our round-up of May which includes Chris Evans splashing out more than £5 million on a Ferrari and the announcement of a 260mph Swiss hypercar
