Cristiano Ronaldo’s Porsche sells instantly
10 April 2008 A top-of-the-range Porsche Cayenne previously owned by Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been snapped up just days after appearing on Auto Trader. Cristiano Ronaldo was the second owner of the 165mph Porsche Cayenne Turbo, which he bought when it was six months old from fellow footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. And it wasn’t any ordinary Porsche Cayenne. Cristiano Ronaldo's Cayenne benefited from 22-inch alloy wheels and an aggressive bodykit designed by German tuning experts Techart. Powered by a 4.8-litre turbocharged V8 engine, the Porsche Cayenne is essentially an off-road Porsche 911 and accelerates from 0-62mph (100kph) in 5.6 seconds before hitting 165mph. His 2004 car – which cost more than £75,000 new – was on the market for £34,995. Cristiano Ronaldo is world football’s hottest property at the moment, banging in an amazing 37 goals this season. It’s been reported Real Madrid are planning an audacious £100 million bid for the 23-year-old Portuguese star, eclipsing the current world record fee of £46 million which Real paid for Frenchman Zinedine Zidane. So what car should Ronaldo buy to fill the gap left by the Cayenne? The attacking midfielder is the world’s eighth highest paid footballer, earning £6.3 million before endorsements last year – so money won’t be a problem. It’s rumoured he’s ordered a 253mph Bugatti Veyron after racing the supercar for a Nike commercial, but there’s a massive waiting list for the £830,000 supercar. We’d suggest the SSC Ultimate Aero TT which is the world’s fastest car, reaching a top speed of 257mph. Or the 1,018bhp Koenigsegg CCXR which goes on sale later this year and costs £1 million + taxes. |
