31 October 2007 A Mercedes Benz from the collection of Formula 1 mogul Bernie Ecclestone is expected to fetch up to £4 million as the historic cars change hands for a total of up to £20 million. "Almost 100 cars from three major collections are going to bring the most discerning buyers to London. We will be showcasing the very best and rarest of European and American automobiles," said Rob Myers, founder of RM Auctions, which is staging the event, in association with Sotheby's, at London's Battersea Evolution exhibition centre. The 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Spezial Roadster is estimated to fetch between £3.25 million and £4 million. Two more rare Mercedes from Mr Ecclestone's collection, a 1928 SSK Roadster, and a 1935 500K Spezial Cabriolet, could bring in another £4 million between them. The sale will also feature cars owned by Italian businessman Giuseppe Prevosti and Brazilian collector Abraham "Abba" Kogan. A 1927 Delage 15-S-8 Grand Prix car from the Kogan collection is estimated to fetch between £1.2 million and £1.8 million. And a 1960 Ferrari 250 GT "Nembo" Spyder (1777GT) offered for sale by an anonymous vendor is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful Ferraris of all time. It is expected to sell for £700,000 to £900,000. The sale will also include a platinum 1964 Aston Martin DB5 owned by the late Beatle George Harrison, which is expected to fetch £120,000 to £150,000.
