These are the first pictures of the Audi R8 Spyder which have been leaked onto the Internet.

Audi's soft-top supercar has been revealed ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show which kicks off next week.

The R8 Spyder is likely to include a 5.2-litre V10 engine which delivers 525bhp. Expect the R8 to go from 0-62mph in less than four seconds and on to a top speed of around 200mph.

A folding soft-top roof will sit behind the passenger compartment and the side blades have been removed from the supercar's bodywork.

The Audi R8 Spyder also gains a brushed aluminium windshield as well as the new retractable roof.

Its rivals will include the Lamborghini Gallardo Spider, Aston Martin DB9 Volante, Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet and Ferrari F430 Spyder when it goes on sale.

Other new rivals at the Frankfurt Motor Show include the McLaren MP4-12C and Mercedes SLS Gullwing.
