The fastest ever production Audi TT will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show – and we’ve got the first official pics ahead of Sunday’s show.

Fitted with a tweaked version of the standard 2-litre TFSi engine, the Audi TTS develops 264bhp – up from 200bhp.

This increased power accelerates the semi-automatic Audi TTS Coupe from 0-62mph (100kph) in 5.2 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155mph – while managing a respectable 29.7mpg.

The manual model does the same sprint in 5.4 seconds and averages 29.7mpg.

The Audi TTS is also available as a heavier convertible which is slightly slower to 62mph than its coupe sibling.

To handle the extra oomph, the Audi TTS has the Quattro four-wheel drive system and has been fitted with uprated suspension, steering and brakes, which are housed inside the TTS’s 18-inch alloys.

Customers looking for bigger wheels can opt for the more expensive 19-inch alloys.

And Audi has fitted the TTS with bi-xenon headlamps with the same LED strip as seen on the A5 and R8 supercar and – for the first time – four tailpipes.

Inside, the German sports car has leather seats and ‘S’-line  instruments with white needles, metal pedals and part aluminium trim.

Prices haven’t been released for the new flagship Audi TTS, which will hit UK forecourts in the summer, but expect to pay around £32,000.
