Aston Martin Rapide to cost £139k

The standard specification car will include a Bang & Olufsen Beosound audio system, heated memory seats, dual cast brakes and Adaptive Damping System.

As expected the price is almost twice as much as that of other luxury saloons, such as the £72,269 Porsche Panamera and £78,553 Maserati Quattroporte.

Aston Martin has not yet confirmed the price or details for higher-specification models. The Rapide is Aston's first saloon since the Lagonda, which ceased production in 1991.

It expects to build 2,000 Rapides in the first year of production.

It is the first car the company will build at Graz in Austria instead of its Gaydon plant in Oxfordshire.
