22 December 2009
The 7.3-litre V12-powered One-77 – which saw its UK debut at this year’s Salon Prive Motor Show – recorded a top speed of 220.007mph in dry yet windy conditions at a southern European proving ground last week. Aston expects it to be able to go even faster in better conditions.

The £1.2 million supercar smashed the record for fastest road-going Aston as held by the Vanquish – with its top speed of just over 200mph – during a series of test runs carried-out ahead of first deliveries to customers in the summer.
As the name suggests, production is limited to 77 individually numbered examples, with buyers required to make a £200,000 deposit to secure one.
The two-door, two-seat sports coupe features a carbon fibre monocoque chassis and active aerodynamics.

Its creators describe the Aston Martin One-77 as the ultimate expression of what the British marque stands for, combining innovative technology, craftsmanship with the ultimate in exclusivity. In their words, it’s the “world’s most desirable automotive art form”. Now to win the lottery…
