Limited edition Caterham CDX announced
12 June 2008 British company Caterham has launched a special edition track-focussed sports car – the Caterham CDX Limited Edition. The CDX – which stands for Caterham Driving Experience – is powered by a the 1.6-litre K Series engine which first appeared in a Caterham Seven in 1996. This 135bhp engine, mated to a five speed gearbox, will accelerate the Caterham CDX Limited Edition from 0-60mph in less than six seconds before running on to a top speed of around 115mph. But while the figures don’t scream performance, the Caterham CDX Limited Edition should handle superbly and have huge levels of grip thanks to the sticky Avon tyres fitted to the 13-inch alloys. We recently got behind the wheel of the Caterham Roadsport 150 and were amazed at the amount of fun you can have in a car costing £20,000. As a special edition, the Caterham CDX features a push button engine start, Momo leather steering wheel, full leather equipment and a track-day roll-over bar. Caterham Driving Experience days are hosted at venues across Europe and the UK, where licensed motorists can get behind the wheel of a Seven sports car and drive it on a slalom, drift or circuit course with prices starting from £99. To commemorate 15 years of the CDX, just 20 of the special edition Caterhams are available and cost £20,495 – but if you’re handy with a spanner you can build your own for just £17,495. |
