A top tuning house has built one of the hottest versions of the BMW M3 yet.

German tuning house Hamann has got its hands on the BMW M3, upping power and removing the speed limiter.

Hamann has squeezed an extra 41bhp from the BMW M3's 4-litre V8 engine, creating a 455bhp missile.

This means the derestricted BMW M3 will now rocket all the way to 187mph – an increase of 32mph over the governed 155mph seen on the standard model.

To improve handling, Hamann has hardened up the suspension and fitted enormous 405mm disc brakes on the front wheels.

Hamann has also given the BMW M3 an aesthetic makeover to match the improved performance which boasts an aerodynamic bodykit and 19-inch alloys, while customers can also opt for 20-inch rims for a premium.

Customers can also choose a host of extras for the BMW M3 including a carbon fibre trim and special three spoke steering wheel.

Founded in 1986, south-Germany-based modifier Hamann is well-known for its modifications of BMWs dealing with everything from the 1 Series to the X5 4x4.

It has also turned its hands to supercars such as the Lamborghini Murcielago and Porsche 911 Turbo.

The BMW M3 is a motoring icon, first unveiled in 1987 with the ‘E30’ model and featured a 2.3-litre engine with a top speed of 143mph.

The fourth generation BMW M3, which went on sale last year, is the first to feature a V8 engine as opposed to the more traditional straight six-cylinder lump.

On top of the coupe, M3 fans also get the choice of the forthcoming five door saloon or M3 convertible, which goes on sale later this month.

But it’s up against some serious competition in the super-saloon league with the Audi RS4 and Mercedes C63 both boasting jaw-dropping performance.
