The new Renault Twingo is now available to order and costs just £7,500 – £400 less than the funky new Fiat 500.

The ‘entry-level’ Renault Twingo Extreme is equipped with a 60bhp 1.2-litre engine which returns 50.4mpg and has an emissions count of 132g/km of carbon dioxide. This puts it in tax band B, meaning an annual bill of £115.

And the base Renault Twingo Extreme has a range of standard fit items including anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD), driver and front passenger airbags and brake assist.

Inside, buyers can benefit from a fully-integrated Bluetooth hands-free telephone system and a connection point for mobile MP3 players concealed in the glove box.

Safety features for the new Renault Twingo Extreme include remote central-locking with dead-locks, anti-drill door locks and an insurance approved engine immobiliser.

The Twingo Extreme also boasts a sports body kit, front fog lights, electric front windows, a rev counter and 14-inch alloy wheels.

Customers can also specify a number of options to personalise the look of their Renault Twingo Extreme – Union Jack door handle graphics are a £45 option, while St George wing badges cost £15.

Insurance groups have not been announced for the new Renault Twingo Extreme, but a similar spec 1.2-litre Fiat 500 is in insurance group 2.

Available to order now, the new Renault Twingo Extreme starts from £7,500 and will be in UK showrooms in February 2008.
