The funky Fiat 500 has been given a makeover by an Italian tuning company.

TRC-Marangoni has taken the normally-cute-looking supermini and beefed it up by fitting a black bonnet and full bodykit.

Renamed the Fiat 5-0-0 Super, the pocket rocket now rolls on 17-inch chrome wheels and has uprated brakes and an adjustable suspension for sportier handling.
 
Performance has also improved with the Fiat 5-0-0 Super’s 1.4-litre engine getting supercharged and also getting a sports exhaust.

It’s not yet known if the Fiat 5-0-0 Super will go on sale in the UK, with the standard model not officially hitting British forecourts until January, but it’s likely some of the tuning parts will find their way to these shores.

The Fiat 500 is already being hailed as a massive success on the continent and was recently named 2007 European Car of the Year.

The three door supermini will be initially available with a choice of three engines; a 75bhp 1.3-litre turbodiesel, and 1.2 and 1.4-litre petrol models producing 69bhp and 100bhp respectively with prices starting from just £7,900.

Standard equipment on the entry-level 1.2 Pop includes anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution, four airbags, CD player and colour coded bumpers.

Optional extras include a glass sunroof and parking sensors.

It’s also thought a hot Abarth version will also be built – targeting the Mini Cooper’s jugular.
