Motorists in the black
23 October 2007
Black is set to replace silver as the most popular car colour. Last year saw more than a fifth of motorists choose black as their car colour, with experts predicting that it will soon overtake silver as the most sought after. And this could mean hunting around for your next Sopranos-liveried ride could set you back a bit more – as demand could push the price of used black cars up. Insurance provider yesinsurance.co.uk conducted the survey which showed that 30 per cent of motorists would choose black as the colour for their next car purchase. Paul Purdy of yesinsurance.co.uk said: “The way things are moving, we would predict that black may overtake silver as the most popular colour for new cars within the next three years.” But Purdy reckons motorists going in the black could have wider implications for road safety. “Research studies have indicated that black can be a more dangerous colour for vehicles because they are less easy to see at night”, he said. “In this respect, silver could be a safer option.” Auto Trader links Auto Trader New Car Homepage | ||
