The Volkswagen Tiguan is now available for order ahead of its 2008 UK launch.

The compact off-roader will be fitted with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION four-wheel drive as standard and be available in trim levels – S, SE Sport and Escape.

The Escape trim is for customers who are more likely to use the Tiguan’s off-road ability, with the baby 4x4 gaining hill descent control and a new front end including a protective front over the grille.

Initially buyers will have the choice of two engine - a 2-litre turbodiesel producing 138bhp and 236lb/ft of pulling power and a turbocharged and supercharged 1.4-litre petrol model producing 168bhp and 177lb/ft of pull.

Later next year the Volkswagen Tiguan will also be available with a more powerful 168bhp diesel engine.

Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, air-con, electronic stabilisation programme, CD-player with MP3 connectivity and six airbags.

The all-new Volkswagen Tiguan goes on sale in February 2008 with prices starting from £19,370 for the entry-level 1.4, rising to £23,300 for the top-end 2-litre Escape model.
