Little-known German modifier G Power has shoehorned the BMW M5’s 5-litre V10 into the already raucous BMW M3 CSL. This has upped power from a more-than-adequate 360bhp to a Lamborghini Gallardo-devouring 550bhp. And as the CSL (Coupe Sport Lightweight) is lighter than the standard M3 – due to its carbon fibre roof and boot and lack of creature comforts such as air-con – the engine makes it supercar quick. Accelerating from 0-62mph (100kph) in 4.2 seconds, the G Power M3 has a top speed of 208mph – 28mph more than the standard CSL. On top of this extra power, BMW fit all CSLs with an enhanced suspension, sharper brakes and sportier steering as standard. And if 550bhp isn’t enough, G Power is working on a supercharger kit, which will increase power to a monumental 750bhp – 100bhp more than a Ferrari Enzo. G Power will also fit this engine in the new BMW 3-Series, Z4 and X5. The tuner isn’t giving any details on prices, but we wouldn’t expect to see much change from £90,000.
