F1-inspired Renault Clio announced
12 April 2007
Renault has revealed details of a limited edition Clio hot hatch - inspired by the back-to-back F1 championship winning team. The Renault Clio Renaultsport 197 F1 Team R27 uses the same engine as the standard hot hatch model, which produces 197bhp. Performance hasn’t changed with acceleration from 0-62mph (100kph) in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 134mph – slightly slower than the latest Peugeot 207 hot hatch, which was announced today. The R27 boasts £1,500 of extra kit, including 17-inch anthracite-coloured alloys, tinted windows, Recaro seats, Renault F1 decorations and the Cup chassis as standard. The Cup chassis is designed to give a more exhilarating drive, while the suspension has been lowered by 7mm with the springs stiffened, reducing body roll.
Only 500 of the limited edition Clios will go on the sale in the UK – each with a unique numbered plaque – and will be priced at £17,250. Links | ||

Other features as standard include air conditioning, cruise control and ESP, along with a combined fuel economy of 33.6mpg.
