Maserati reveal all-new supercar
21 February 2007
by Stuart Milne
Maserati will pull the wraps off its latest sports car next month at the Geneva Motor Show. The GranTurismo is powered by a Ferrari-derived 4.7-litre V8 engine, delivering 405bhp, which is channelled to the wheels via an automatic gearbox. Although weight distribution is a near 49 per cent at the front and 51 per cent at the rear - virtually guaranteeing an exciting drive - the GranTurismo is a four seat GT, rather than a hardcore sportscar. Maserati's latest car has been styled by Pininfarina's Jason Castriota, who is responsible for the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. The launch of the GranTurismo loosely coincides with the 60th anniversary of Maserati's first road car, the A6 1500 GT – dubbed the Gran Turismo.
