First photos of all-new Ford Mondeo
13 February 2007
by Adrian Hearn
Moviegoers got a glimpse of it in Casino Royale and now Auto Trader has the official images of Ford’s hotly-anticipated new Mondeo. Making its debut at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, the third generation Mondeo is set to be one of the sleekest looking motors in its class, with its curvy, sporty design. Available as a four-door saloon, five-door hatch and estate model, the Mondeo will be available with a choice of seven engines from the 1.8-litre, 99bhp turbodiesel to the range-topping 2.5-litre petrol model producing 215bhp.
Other technological features include keyless entry and start, adaptive cruise control, hill launch assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Ford has targeted a quiet journey as one of the car’s big selling points, with noise reduced by 3 decibels compared to the current model with wind noise the lowest in its class. Originally launched in 1993, the Mondeo has made up a large number of sales for the troubled manufacturer, shifting over four million cars, with 1.5 million being sold in the UK alone. Set to be a big seller among fleets, the new Mondeo goes on sale in June, with prices and full specifications to be announced closer to the launch. Keep an eye out for our coverage from Geneva, where we’ll be bringing all the show’s news and gossip.

The model is the first Ford to feature the manufacturer’s Easyfuel system, which guards against filling the car with the wrong type of fuel.
