11 January 2008 We look at some unlikely contenders to the Bugatti Veyron’s throne… Cristiano Ronaldo Vs Bugatti Veyron What do you get when you race a 982bhp, 252mph Bugatti Veyron against Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo? A clash of the world’s best car and the world’s best footballer. Not what you might expect. Some may argue the Bugatti doesn’t get to stretch its legs, but they will have to concede Ronaldo’s acceleration off the line is impressive. If the Premiership's top goal scorer ever runs out of steam he could hop into a Veyron of his own after a six-week-save, thanks to his reported £130,000 per week salary.
Bugatti Veyron Vs Eurofighter Typhoon It isn’t the first time the Bugatti Veyron has had to go home with its spoiler between its legs. When Richard Hammond raced against an RAF pilot in a £65 million pound fighter jet, he can’t have fancied his chances – but this was a race with a difference, which involved a return run. As the two reached the end of the runway and the Eurofighter’s afterburners speared it off the ground and above the clouds for a looped turn, it looked as though the Veyron may snatch a victory. Its superior agility allowed it to get a head start on the return dash and a win looked certain. And then the fearsome fighter boomed through the clouds and flew over the Veyron and the finish line in epic style. BMW M3 Vs Bugatti Veyron In case you are starting to think these defeats make the Veyron a slow car – don’t worry, it isn’t. To prove exactly how fast the Veyron is an American enthusiast recently posted an online video of him racing a brand new BMW M3. And what a way to show the difference between a very fast car and a car which makes most drivers scream with the force of its acceleration. The Veyron driver must have been smiling all the way home as he left the 420bhp Beemer in his dust.
