The 21-year-old wheelchair user from Paw Paw, Michigan was crossing a highway when the handlebars of his chair became stuck in the front grille of a truck. The truck driver, who hadn’t noticed the low speed collision, continued down the Red Arrow highway for four miles, reaching speeds of up to 50mph. Mr Carpenter's presence on the front of the truck was only pointed out to the driver when he stopped at a depot. Mr Carpenter, who was held in his wheelchair by its seatbelt, said: "It was quite a ride." His only complaint, reported police officers, was that he had spilled his soda.
