Arnold Schwarzenegger – who is the Governor of California – mingled among the star cars at the 2008 Los Angeles Motor Show.

But what did the ‘Governator’ – who starred in 1980s sci-fi smash ‘The Terminator’ – make of the new electric Mini? Vijay Pattni reels out the LA Motor Show video roundup…

Mini E

Could this be the world’s most important small car? Maybe.

Mini has built 500 examples of the Mini E – an all-electric version of one of the world’s most popular superminis.

The electric Mini is powered by a battery and is a zero-emission vision of the future…something which Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is a modern-day champion of green rights, is keen to promote…

And the 62-year-old star was also snapped in a range of BMWs promoting the EfficientDynamics technology.

Porsche Boxster S

While Mini was going…mini, Porsche seems to have lost the worldwide memo condemning more powerful cars, and unveiled new versions of the Boxster and Cayman – each with more power.

The most powerful Porsche Boxster S now produces 310bhp, while the Cayman S – a Boxster ‘coupe’ – produces 320bhp, and can sprint from 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds.

But despite the added power, both the Porsche Boxster S and Porsche Cayman S are cleaner and more efficient, and return 30.1mpg on the combined cycle – improving on the previous generation fuel economy.

Maserati Quattroporte S

This Italian stunner showcases a 430bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine and looks which any Californian would pay good money for…the Maserati Quattroporte S.

The four-door Italian super-saloon sprints from 0-62mph in a relaxed 5.4 seconds, and is capable of a 174mph top speed.
