5,000bhp+ of Goodwood goodness
29 June 2009
Vijay Pattni looks at one of the most important events in the automotive calendar – the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It all started in 1993 when Lord March wanted to bring back motor racing to Goodwood.
But while he couldn’t get the Goodwood racing circuit for the event, he did a Blue Peter special and decided to hold it in his own back yard…which just happens to be massive.
Originally attracting up to around 30,000 people, the Goodwood Festival of Speed now caters for more than 150,000 petrolheads.
And the show itself is a showcase of hot new metal, stunning vintage racers, madcap concept cars and of course, all manner of celebrities.
We’ll be reporting live from this weekend’s Goodwood FoS, but until then, click the image below to see highlights from the past shows.
