The great Colin McRae MBE: 1968 - 2007 - News image

19 September 2007

The sporting world was stunned at the weekend after the tragic death of rally legend Colin McRae MBE.

The former World Rally Champion died along with his young son Johnny and family friends Ben Porcelli and Graeme Duncan in a helicopter accident in Scotland.

The fearless McRae was the first Brit to win the World Championship when he won in 1995 in the iconic Subaru Impreza pipping team-mate Carlos Seinz.

He was a runner-up on three occasions and also competed in the gruelling Paris Dakar Rally.

Colin McRae also bought rallying to the masses, lending his name to the brilliant computer game Colin McRae Rally.

In a Videos of the Week special, we celebrate the brilliant talent of one of racing’s greatest personalities.

Watch in awe at the great man in action.
