Could this be Ingolstadt’s latest creation? A hard-charging V10-engined lightweight road rocket with styling to set pulses – and wallets – racing?

Because it is in fact, a rendering; a mock-up. A flight of fancy by a design student eager to show Audi what they should be making – and if we’re being honest, we’d much rather see more of this than diesel-powered three-tonne SUV variants…

Marouane Bembli reckons his Audi R10 supercar is the nuts, featuring a V10 engine and a maximum weight of just 1,200kgs, which is less than a fully-loaded Ford Ka supermini.

No performance figures have been mooted, because it only exists in these CGI renderings and Bembli’s fevered imagination. But in our juvenile, twelve year-old minds, this thing would probably produce around 530bhp (a little more than the R8 V10) and sprint to 62mph from zero in around three seconds. And have rockets.

Bembli’s lightweight beast looks sensational – but he’s not the only designer to put mouse to screen and create a supercar.

So we’ve decided to round up the best renderings we could find – along with a few manufacturer specials which they simply need to build – to provide a bit of automotive dreaming.
