The Tesla Roadster is a tax-free electric sports car

13 January 2009

Road tax is set to rise this year, but look for a car with low enough CO2 emissions and you won’t have to pay a penny on tax.

We round-up six of the best tax-free cars.

From April 1 motorists will see a £5 increase in car tax irrespective of what car they drive – unless it falls into tax band A.

The following band A cars emit less than 100g/km, making them exempt from tax.

Ford Fiesta ECOnetic
Price:
£11,595

Ford’s stylish supermini is one of Britain’s best-loved cars – and the all-new Fiesta ECOnetic comes with its lowest emissions yet.

The three-door Ford Fiesta 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi emits 98g/km of CO2 and has an average fuel consumption figure of 76.3mpg.
