Chevrolet Matiz
£6,134

The Matiz is Chevrolet’s smallest model to date – it’s easy to control and park, making it an ideal urban run-around.

The 0.8-litre Matiz S features body colour bumpers, tinted glass with a shaded front windscreen and an MP3-compatible CD player, making it one of the cheapest superminis on the market.

Kia Picanto
£5,995

This sub-£6,000 supermini is Kia’s answer to the Fiesta – but the 60bhp engine will have to be pushed reasonably hard to make the most of your ride.

Running costs are low with an average fuel economy of 57.6mpg and group 2 insurance. Buyers can also expect to reclaim about half the list price after three years or 36,000 miles.
