31 October 2007

The Top Gear team have descended on London’s Earls Court with a host of madness, mayhem and over £27 million worth of machinery up their sleeves at the MPH ’07 show, which kicks off tomorrow.

Top Gear hosts Messrs Clarkson, Hammond and May will unleash their bravado and play host to a number of live stunts including car chases, crashes and explosions.

Vijay Pattni previews the show.

A room full of the most expensive and exotic cars on the planet. A live theatre showcasing breathtaking stunts and daredevil antics.

And a fat man with a mullet.

To further whet petrolheads’ appetites, there is a mouthwatering exhibition of automotive exotica on display in the motor show stands.

So what can visitors expect?

Live theatre

Although details of the live stunts performed on the show are kept under wraps, producers have revealed Jeremy Clarkson will be racing a Land Rover up a 40ft man-made mountain – in a race against the clock with a rock climber.

The Top Gear host will tackle the 45-degree incline in a Land Rover Discovery and will try and park it at the summit before the mountaineer reaches the top.

A spokesman for the show said: “There is little room for error. It will be a real challenge for Clarkson to reach the top safely.”

And 28-year-old stunt driver Paul Swift – son of stunt supremo Russ Swift – will be behind some of the crazy cars careering around London’s Earls Court.

There is also another mystery driver – who it’s rumoured could be Top Gear’s The Stig.

Cars

Over £27 million worth of cars will be on display at MPH ’07 in the prestige and performance motor show, including every 200mph+ production car built, including…
