If you win the lottery, buy a Ferrari and put it in a wall, the man you need to call is Kevin O’Rourke.

Importers of Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis all turn to Moto Technique for specialist repairs.

And plenty of private owners have used the company after a costly prang - as boss Kevin O’Rourke explains: “We had one come in after a chauffeur took a Ferrari F40 for its MOT test.”

The wrecked F40 was in no state to take its test after the crash – but Moto Technique sorted it and sent it on its way, good as new.

They should have the hang of the by now: O’Rourke reckons they’ve fixed dozens of F40s – the first production car to hit 200mph.

Bugatti EB110He rattles off a list of the most exotic cars they’ve repaired: “We’ve done a Bugatti EB110, lots of Shelby Cobras, a couple of Ferrari 250LMs, a California… about 85-90 per cent of what we do is Ferraris.

“The only car we don’t like working on is the Porsche 356.” The curvy 1960s sportscar is known for not being up to the same build quality standards as later Porsches.

They can’t work their magic on every supercar. O’Rourke says: “We can’t touch Bugatti Veyrons. They need special tools to open and working on them invalidates Volkswagen’s warranty.

“But we can repair all the other major exotics.”

Moto Technique has so many Ferraris you’d think you were at the Maranello factory. O’Rourke lists the cars they’re working on at the moment: “A pair of 275 GTS’s, a 275 GTB, six Dinos, a couple of 360s, and a beautiful short wheelbase 250.”

Ferrari EnzoFixing these cherished machines is obviously not as straightforward as getting your Focus serviced. Moto Technique uses an array of sophisticated tools to ensure their repairs are of the highest standards.

An expensive digital scanning rig checks the chassis dimensions against the car’s original size to check for damage. They can also repair costly aluminium and even carbon fibre components.

But O’Rourke claims there is no secret to repairing expensive cars like these. He said: “You need experience – I’ve been doing this 43 years. It can be difficult getting parts but we can also manufacture some.

“People keep coming back to us because we do everything in-house: carbon fibre, chassis, paint, interiors the lot. That gives people peace of mind.”

Which is exactly what they need when they’re shunted a supercar.
