WITH so many electronic riding aids appearing on today’s superbikes, there’s a growing discourse between riders who value them and those who loathe them.

Which is why Suzuki’s latest advert cleverly addresses the issue by hinting at the possibility that fancy electronic aids might not be a substitute for riding to our own limits, not one set by electronics.

Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 model for 2012 doesn’t have any of the trickery which is appearing on rival machines. This is not to say the GSX-R1000 is unchanged from last year. Suzuki made thousands of small internal changes to the machine which when added all up make a huge difference.

But rather than Suzuki fretting and worrying that it hasn’t added all the latest technology to its 2012 model, it is using this fact to full advantage but tapping into the real essence of what it means to ride a bike.

Which is why Suzuki has made this short of Simon Crafar doing an immense powerslide on the latest GSX-R1000. It looks like he just might loose it, but that's the point - it suitably shows that it all comes down to our minds and body to keep control. The limit is yours – and this is title of the video embedded below.

Crafar's slide is shown in full-speed first – and then, the part which really hits the spot, is when it’s shown in slow motion and we can watch, frame by frame and soak it all in. Watch out for the smoking rear tyre in the heat haze and the difference in angle between the rear and the front.

Simon Crafar is a former 500GP winner and former World Superbike rider who now runs his on track instruction school, called Motovudu. He’s continuing his affiliation with Suzuki by using the NEW 2012 GSX-R1000 this year for all his lessons.

Sit back, enjoy and replay. Possibly five or six times….
