By law, all UK cars that are 3 years old and over are expected to take a MOT test at least once a year.

The vehicle must be examined at an authorised MOT test station to make sure that it complies with certain important requirements of the law.

If a vehicle fails to pass its MOT test, the vehicle must undergo the necessary repair work to ensure it complies with the law. On a vehicle passing its MOT test it will be provided with a valid MOT certificate.

The MOT scheme is a road safety measure designed to ensure that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old are properly maintained.

An Interim Service is a 6 month, 35 point service is designed for the high mileage car user, or where the manufacturer recommends more frequent checks.

A Full Service is a very comprehensive annual service. It exceeds most manufacturers' service schedules with 67 checks and adjustments including changing the engine oil and oil filter.

It is important to have your car serviced as it will help maintain your vehicle and prevents unforeseen faults which could later lead to more expensive repairs.

Should we find anything wrong with your car then we will always contact the customer and get permission before commencing with any work. At this point we will make you aware of timescales and costs so that you are fully informed before making a decision.

In addition, we operate a "traffic light warning system", whereby when we look at a car, we will inform the customer of Red items (items that need changing immediately) and Amber items (items that will need changing within the next few months).

This will obviously depend on the nature of the repair, but the majority of jobs - MOT's care service, and repairs, can be carried out in a single day. This is due to the number of mechanics we have, plus the speed with which we can source parts (our buying power means we can source parts at very competitive prices, and often within a couple of hours). But customers will always be kept informed as to the timescales.

We do not fix items that don't need fixing, and the customer will only ever pay for work that has been agreed with them first.
